JavaFX 27 is Now Available

We are pleased to announce the official release of JavaFX 27. Metal is now the default rendering pipeline on macOS, CSS gains conditional stylesheets and media queries, JavaFX controls can live in the window title bar, and RichTextArea keeps growing — on top of more than 70 bug fixes, a batch of controls performance work and updated native dependencies.

Two things worth knowing before you upgrade:

JDK 25 is now the minimum. JavaFX 27 is compiled with --release 25, so an older JDK will fail at startup with an error about the javafx.base module. We recommend JDK 27 for the best experience.
Metal replaces ES2 on macOS. If you need more time to validate, launch with -Dprism.order=es2 to fall back to the old pipeline.
